About the Online Education Advisory Council

The Online Education Advisory Council started out as a faculty task force created by the Provost's Office in 2005 to support the implementation of UNM's enterprise learning management system and to recommend institutional guidelines for online courses. After the implementation the Task Force became an advisory body to New Media and Extended Learning in the support and delivery of online courses and programs. Having completed the original task force tasks, Spring 2009, this advisory body changed their name to Online Education Advisory Council continuing it's focus as a faculty advisory body to New Media & Extended Learning.

Faculty Forums on Virtual Learning Environments

Our membership is engaged in leveraging learning management system tools, integrated media and web conferencing systems, as well as exploring emerging technologies to support teaching and learning. Our members represent all colleges that are offering online courses and programs at UNM. This faculty advisory group is participating in a series of forums to identify our e-learning challenges and opportunities over the next three to five years. In collaboration with the UNM CIO and ITS, we will be developing a wiki that will be open to all faculty to contribute to the dialogue about virtual learning environments.
